Fill Out AACOMAS Application

The ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ College of Osteopathic Medicine participates in the centralized application service. All applicants are required to apply online through this service.

Submit Transcripts

Applicants must submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. Transcripts must be submitted through unless otherwise instructed.

Complete Standardized Tests

Completion of the is required.

  • Although ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ COM does not have a minimum score requirement, highly competitive applicants typically score in the 50th percentile or higher.
  • Official MCAT score reports must be submitted directly to from the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).
  • The MCAT must have been taken between January 2024 and January 2027.

Submit Letters of Recommendation
  • Three letters of recommendation are required – submitted through
    • Preferred sources of evaluations include Pre-Health Committee Advisor, Pre-Health Advisor, a faculty member, direct supervisor, or a health care professional (preferably physicians) — with substantial knowledge of the applicant.
    • Letters from an Osteopathic Physician (D.O.) are recommended but not required.
  • Letters from friends or family members are not acceptable.

Degree Requirement

Completion of 90 semester credits at time of application. Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree from a U.S. regionally accredited institution, or international equivalent, before matriculation.

GPA Minimums

Minimum overall GPA of 2.8 at time of application

Minimum science GPA of 2.8 at time of application

GPA’s are calculated by AACOMAS and are inclusive of all coursework with no forgiveness for retakes.

Prerequisite Policies
  • All prerequisites must be completed with a grade of C or better (C- is not acceptable).
  • Pass/Fail courses are accepted for prerequisite courses taken in spring 2020 only.
  • Prerequisite courses may be in progress or planned at the time of application, but must be completed by January 1, 2027.
  • Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) test credit can be accepted towards prerequisite requirements. To apply AP or IB test credits towards prerequisite requirements, the credits must be broken down by subject on the undergraduate transcript.
  • Online prerequisite courses from regionally accredited institutions, including ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ Online, are accepted.

International Applicants
International applicants or applicants with foreign coursework must also submit:

  • A credential evaluation from World Education Service (WES) or ECE, sent directly to AACOMAS, confirming degree and grade equivalency to that of a U.S. bachelor’s degree.
  • Proof of English language proficiency, if English is not the applicant’s first language

What Happens After You Apply

  • The Office of Graduate Admissions will notify you of receipt of your application and any missing or pending items.
  • After reviewing for minimum requirements, applications are reviewed by the program for potential interview.
  • Interview sessions are held from September to April and are done by invitation only. Interviews are a required part of the application process.
  • Admissions decisions are released on a rolling basis after interview.
  • Admitted students are required to submit a non-refundable enrollment deposit to secure their seat.

Before Attending — Compliance Requirements

Prior to matriculation, accepted and deposited students will be required to complete the following compliance requirements:

  • Submission of all outstanding requirements or conditions, such as final transcripts for degree or coursework verification.
  • Completion of physical examination with proof of up-to-date immunization status. Please refer to ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ’s Student Health Services for detailed information.
  • Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check and/or drug screen prior to matriculation, as well as periodically throughout the program (as required by ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ COM and clinical training sites).
  • All students must have the ability to meet all Academic and Technical Standards of ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ COM.

D.O. Admissions FAQ

How can I find out about the status of my application to ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ’s Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program?

You will receive an email confirming receipt of your verified application from the Office of Graduate Admissions and Recruitment. All communication from Graduate Admissions and Recruitment will be sent to the email address listed on your AACOMAS application. If you wish to check the status of your application please email the Office of Graduate Admissions and Recruitment.

Does state residency play a role in admissions to ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ’s Doctor of Osteopathic program?

There are no quotas for Maine or New England students. Prospective students from all geographic regions are encouraged to apply for admission.

Can I update or make changes to my ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ D.O. application post-submission?

Yes, updates can be made post-submission. Experiences can be added, but edits of previously submitted information is not allowed. Coursework can be updated during the Academic Update Period(s) for GPA recalculation. Coursework added outside of Academic Update Periods will not affect GPA calculations. Applicants are encouraged to submit update or new MCAT scores to AACOMAS via AAMC.

I am reapplying to ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ’s College of Osteopathic Medicine D.O. What do I need to do?

Applicants reapplying to ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ College of Osteopathic Medicine need to resubmit all application materials for any new cycle in which they apply, including: primary CAS application, transcripts, letters of recommendation, written statements and responses, fees and payments, and any additional required documentation. Applicants should also actively update their experiences, extracurricular activities, clinical involvement, and volunteering each cycle as well, to reflect the most up-to-date engagement. 

What is the application process for the Osteopathic Medicine program?

All applicants in verified status on or before the application deadline will receive full admission consideration. After submission, applications will move to preliminary review, which includes confirmation of minimum academic thresholds and required documentation. After preliminary review, highly qualified applicants will be invited to submit the supplemental application fee and move on to secondary review. A select number of qualified applicants will be invited to interview. Interviews are done by invitation only. After interview completion, a select number of applicants will be offered acceptance to the program, while others may be placed on hold for future consideration. ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ communicates all status updates, notifications, and admissions decisions electronically.
